Progressive Florida lawmaker shocks Democratic primary, heads to general vs. Moody

Progressive state Rep. Angie Nixon defeated former NSC aide Alex Vindman in Florida’s Democratic Senate primary, setting up a November showdown against Republican Sen. Ashley Moody. Vindman, once the favorite who raised about $16 million, was overtaken as Nixon framed the race as challenging the establishment; Moody, appointed by Gov. DeSantis to replace Rubio, won the GOP primary to advance to the general election.
