Steve Garvey, Former MLB All-Star, Enters U.S. Senate Race

Former MLB All-Star Steve Garvey, 74, has announced his candidacy as a Republican for the U.S. Senate seat in California, aiming to replace the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein. Garvey, who has never held political office, has focused his campaign on quality-of-life issues, public safety, and education. He will face competition from other candidates, including Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee, as well as Republican attorney Eric Early, in the March primary. The top two candidates from the primary will advance to the general election in November.
