Donald Trump's lawyers have filed petitions to throw out evidence collected by a special grand jury and disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis from the investigation into Trump's conduct after the 2020 election in Georgia. Trump argues that allowing the investigation to proceed would violate his constitutional rights as he seeks the Republican Party's nomination for the presidency. The petitions were filed with the Fulton County Superior Court and the Georgia Supreme Court. Willis has indicated that charging decisions could be made next month. Trump has previously tried, unsuccessfully, to shut down the state-level investigation into his efforts to overturn the election results in Georgia.
