Exonerated Man Shot Dead by Deputy in Georgia Traffic Stop

Leonard Allan Cure, who spent over 16 years in prison for a wrongful conviction before being released, was shot and killed by a Georgia sheriff during a traffic stop. Cure, who was Black, was pulled over near the Florida border and an altercation ensued, resulting in the officer using a Taser, baton, and ultimately firing his weapon. The incident is being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump, representing the family, criticized the bias and racial disparities in traffic stops. Cure's family and their attorneys highlighted ongoing issues with the Camden County Sheriff's Office, which has faced numerous complaints. Cure had started a new life after his release and was pursuing his dreams before his tragic death.
