Josh Gibson has become Major League Baseball's career leader in batting average (.372) and season leader (.466 in 1943) after MLB incorporated Negro Leagues statistics. This integration also made Gibson the career leader in slugging percentage (.718) and OPS (1.177), surpassing legends like Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth. The move, part of a three-year research project, aims to honor the contributions of Negro Leagues players.
