MLB's Trade Restrictions and Laughable Ohtani Trade Packages

Sports talk host Colin Cowherd, while discussing the possibility of trading Shohei Ohtani, learned on air that Major League Baseball (MLB) forbids trading draft picks. Cowherd suggested a hypothetical trade involving draft picks, only to be informed that this is not allowed in MLB. The rule was implemented to protect competitive balance and prevent small market teams from sacrificing their future for short-term gains. The only draft picks that can be traded are competitive balance picks given to the 10 smallest market teams.
