Romo’s CBS return in limbo as OWI arrest triggers indefinite leave
TL;DR
Tony Romo is on indefinite leave from CBS after a Wisconsin OWI arrest, with CBS promoting JJ Watt to the top broadcast role. He faces a difficult path to reclaim the lead gig amid a $72 million contract with a moral clause, recent notes of poor performance, and a September 21 court date. CBS could reassign him to a lower-profile, or studio, role depending on the legal and performance outcomes.
