TL;DR

The New York Yankees have acquired All-Star closer Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for pitcher Nestor Cortes, infield prospect Caleb Durbin, and cash considerations. Williams, known for his "Airbender" changeup, has been a top reliever with a 1.83 ERA and 68 saves since his MLB debut in 2019. He will strengthen the Yankees' bullpen, which recently lost Clay Holmes to free agency. Williams returned from a back injury in 2024, posting a 1.25 ERA with 14 saves, but struggled in the NL Wild Card Series against the Mets.
