Biden unveils distribution plan for $42 billion broadband investment.

President Joe Biden is set to announce the distribution of billions of dollars to provide internet access to every household and small business in the US. The Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program, or BEAD, was approved by Congress through the infrastructure bill signed by the president in 2021. The amount each state will receive depends on the number of unserved locations in each jurisdiction. States have until the end of the year to submit initial proposals outlining how they plan to use the money, which won’t begin to be distributed until those plans are approved.
