Brazilian Phone Spyware Hack: Victims' Devices Wiped from Server

Brazilian phone spyware WebDetetive, which has compromised over 76,000 Android devices in South America, has been hacked by unknown individuals. The hackers gained access to the spyware's servers and user databases, downloading every dashboard record, including customer email addresses. They claimed to have deleted victim devices from the spyware network, severing the connection at the server level. The cache of stolen data did not include the contents of victims' phones. WebDetetive is linked to OwnSpy, another phone spying app, and both have been criticized for their shoddy coding and security vulnerabilities. This breach highlights the risks of spyware and the need for improved cybersecurity measures.
