EU Urges Elon Musk to Address Disinformation on X Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict

The European Union (EU) has warned Elon Musk that his social media platform, X, is being used to spread "disinformation" following the recent Hamas attack on Israel. The EU's industry chief, Thierry Breton, called on Musk to take action against "violent and terrorist content" that has not been removed, as required by EU law. Musk responded by stating that his company has already taken measures to remove newly-created Hamas-affiliated accounts and requested the EU to provide a list of alleged violations. The EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) holds larger tech platforms accountable for potential risks and non-compliance can result in fines or service suspension.
