"Uncovering Twitter's Verified Bot Epidemic"

X, formerly known as Twitter, is facing a Verified bot problem as numerous bots, including many verified with a blue check, are posting a variation of a phrase indicating the use of AI to create their posts. Elon Musk's suggestion of paid verification to combat bots does not seem to be effective, and there are suspicions that some of the bot accounts may be older, abandoned accounts turned into blue checkmarks using AI to automate the account. X also struggles with bots not assisted by OpenAI, and the company has admitted to having a Verified spammer problem. Despite claims of 550 million monthly users, it's unclear if bots factor into those metrics.
