Real-world tests conducted by a YouTube channel, Max Tech, have shown that the base configuration 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro with 8GB of RAM suffers significant performance losses compared to the upgraded 16GB model. The 8GB model experienced double-digit losses in benchmarks, took longer to complete tasks in Photoshop, Final Cut, and Adobe Lightroom Classic, and even crashed during Blender rendering and Final Cut exports. The tests also revealed that the reduced memory pool in the 8GB model prevented the GPU cores from utilizing certain features. Apple's decision not to equip base models with at least 16GB of RAM has raised concerns among users, especially considering the extra cost of upgrading and the inability to upgrade later due to the unified memory architecture.
