YouTube Premium Monthly Price Increases by $2

YouTube Premium has increased its monthly price by $2 to $13.99, while YouTube Music has gone up by $1 to $10.99. The changes were implemented for new subscribers without prior announcement. The family Premium plan and annual subscription plan prices remain unchanged. YouTube Premium offers ad-free viewing and access to the YouTube Music app. The price hikes are the first in the U.S. since the launch of YouTube Premium in 2018. YouTube stated that the new prices reflect the value of the services provided. Former YouTube original content chief Susanne Daniels resigned in January 2022, and the company has shifted its focus to creator-driven programming. The price increase for YouTube Music puts it on par with other music streaming services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal. Spotify's price remains at $9.99.
