Brazilian Daycare Axe Attack Leaves Four Children Dead

Four children were killed and at least four others were wounded in a school attack in southern Brazil. The assailant, who had no connection with the center, turned himself in at a police station. The attack took place on the center's playground. Parents and other mourners at the São José cemetery barely spoke with the press as they grieved. All four of the victims had been only children. School attacks have happened in the country with greater frequency in recent years and authorities have struggled to marshal responses to a problem no one seems to understand.
