Sgt. First Class Cydrick Garin, a 23-year-old Filipino IDF soldier, was among 20 soldiers killed in a Gaza blast caused by a Palestinian anti-tank missile. The attack detonated explosives the soldiers had placed, collapsing two buildings. Garin, who lived most of his life in Israel, was awarded for his outstanding service in April 2021. His mother, Imelda, mourned his death on Facebook. The Israel Embassy in the Philippines is assisting Garin's family, and the death toll in the Israel-Hamas war has risen to at least 25,700.
