"Navalny's Body Returned to Mother, Spokesperson Confirms"

The body of Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny has been given to his mother after more than a week since his death in a penal colony, with his family and colleagues blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin for his death. Navalny's widow accused Putin of ordering the body to be held to hide the cause of death and out of fear of large crowds at the funeral, while the Kremlin denied the allegations. Navalny's family had pleaded for Russian authorities to release his body, and his mother was given an ultimatum to agree to a secret funeral or see her son buried in the penal colony where he died.
