Russia Escalates Conflict with New Missile Strikes on Ukraine

Russia launched an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) at Dnipro, Ukraine, marking the first use of such a weapon in the conflict. The missile, based on the RS-26 Rubezh model, carried a conventional warhead but could potentially be fitted with nuclear warheads. The U.S. was briefly notified before the launch. In response to changing Russian tactics, the U.S. is providing Ukraine with antipersonnel landmines that are designed to self-detonate, ensuring safer use compared to those Ukraine currently produces. The mines will be used only within Ukrainian territory.
