US Soldier Detained in North Korea After Unauthorized Border Crossing

A U.S. soldier, identified as Private 2nd Class Travis King, crossed into North Korea without authorization and is believed to be in the custody of North Korean forces. King had recently served time in a detention facility in South Korea and was released to officials at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys. After being escorted to the airport for a flight back to the U.S., King did not board the plane and instead managed to join a border tour group before crossing into North Korea. The United Nations Command is working with North Korean counterparts to resolve the incident, while U.S. officials are closely monitoring and investigating the situation.
