Karachi Zoo's beloved elephant Noor Jehan passes away.

Noor Jehan, a 17-year-old African elephant at Karachi Zoo, has died after suffering from several health issues for the last several days. Despite efforts by foreign vets from FOUR PAWS International, Noor Jehan could not be saved. Animal rights activists have called for the zoo to be shut down, and FOUR PAWS has recommended that the other elephant at the zoo, Madhubala, be relocated to a species-appropriate place. Pakistan's zoos are frequently accused of disregarding animal welfare, and in 2019, Islamabad's zoo was shut down after drawing international condemnation for its treatment of an Asian elephant named Kaavan.
