"Search underway for missing GDF helicopter carrying 7 servicemen"

A Guyana Defence Force helicopter carrying seven military servicemen, including a veteran army pilot and the husband of a former government minister, has gone missing about 30 miles east of Arau, Essequibo County near the border with Venezuela. The loss of contact is believed to be due to adverse weather conditions, and a search and rescue operation has been initiated, although it is being impacted by the ongoing bad weather.
