Massacre in Darfur: Over 800 Sudanese Lives Lost in Brutal Attack, Confirms UN

More than 800 people have been reportedly killed in an attack on the town of Ardamata in Sudan's war-torn region of Darfur. Fighters from a paramilitary force and their allied Arab militias, known as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), carried out the multiday attack, targeting the African Masalit tribe. The RSF and their militias went from house to house, killing and detaining people, and torching shelters housing displaced individuals. The UNHCR estimates that 8,000 people have fled to neighboring Chad, while the U.S. State Department expressed deep concern over the human rights abuses committed by the RSF. The conflict in Darfur has resulted in the displacement of millions of people and has been marked by atrocities and violations of human rights.
