Lebanon hit by deadly Israeli strikes as hundreds killed in Hezbollah conflict
Lebanon endured the deadliest day of the renewed Israel-Hezbollah war, with more than 300 killed and about 1,150 wounded as strikes hit Beirut and other areas; the toll later rose to 1,739 dead and 5,873 wounded amid mass displacement. Israel announced direct talks with Lebanon aimed at disarming Hezbollah, while the U.S. and other partners pursued diplomacy and Lebanon prepared a UN complaint over the attacks.
