War in Sudan claims life of West Darfur governor.

West Darfur state governor Khamis Abakar was killed after accusing Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of "genocide" and calling for international intervention. The RSF is accused of being responsible for the killing. The conflict in Sudan has displaced over 2 million people, and escalating attacks in Darfur could amount to "crimes against humanity". Darfur was the scene of genocidal war in the early 2000s, and the RSF evolved from the "Janjaweed" fighters who targeted civilians.
