Israeli Hostage, 76, Dies Before Israel-Hamas Hostage Release Deal

Hannah Katzir, an elderly Israeli hostage captured during the October 7 attacks by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, has been reported dead. The armed branch of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Al-Quds Brigades, claimed responsibility for her kidnapping and blamed Israel for her death. This comes as Hamas and Israel announced the release of 50 hostages held by the Palestinian militant group. Katzir's husband was killed during the attacks, and her son was also taken hostage.
