At least eight civilians were killed and five others wounded in Russian artillery shelling in the Ukrainian town of Lyman, as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia enters its 500th day. Ukrainian forces repelled assault attempts near Lyman and were targeted in an overnight drone attack in Kryviy Rih. The United States is expected to provide Ukraine with a military aid package, including cluster munitions, despite opposition from some close allies. Ukrainian President Zelenskiy thanked the US for the aid package and visited Snake Island, which was briefly captured by Russian forces before their withdrawal. Zelenskiy also met with Turkish President Erdogan to discuss security guarantees and a grain export deal with Russia.
