Mexico Drops Case Against Woman Imprisoned for Killing Her Rapist.

Mexican prosecutors have withdrawn a case against Roxana Ruiz, a woman who was sentenced to six years in prison for killing a man as he raped and attacked her. The court had found her guilty of homicide with "excessive use of legitimate defense." Feminist groups protested the ruling, saying it criminalized survivors of sexual violence while protecting perpetrators. Responding to the outrage, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had said he would seek to pardon Ruiz. However, her lawyers said accepting a pardon would be admitting Ruiz committed a crime and that she is completely innocent. The state Prosecutor's Office has now found Ruiz "exempt from guilt" and believes she acted in self-defense.
