18 Belgian Students Sentenced for Fatal Hazing Ritual

18 members of an elite, mostly White, Belgian fraternity were found guilty of manslaughter and degrading treatment in the hazing death of Sanda Dia, a Black engineering student. Dia was forced to undergo brutal hazing rituals, including drinking fish oil, which led to his death. The fraternity members were sentenced to between 200 and 300 hours of community service and fined about $430 each, but were not given prison time.
