Curiosity Turns Deadly: Fate of True Crime Fan Revealed

A 23-year-old true crime fan in South Korea, Jung Yoo-jung, has been sentenced to life in prison for brutally murdering a stranger "out of curiosity." Jung became fixated on "trying out a murder" after watching true crime TV shows and reading similar books. She contacted over 50 people on an online tutoring app before luring a 26-year-old victim to her home, where she stabbed her over 100 times. Jung then dismembered the body, disposed of some remains in a suitcase, and kept others to make it look like the victim had disappeared. CCTV footage and online searches revealed her planning and execution of the crime. Despite prosecutors seeking the death penalty, Jung received a life sentence, with the judge noting the fear her actions had spread in society.
