The Dominican Republic has seized a record 9.5 tonnes of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment at the Caucedo seaport, marking the largest drug bust in the country's history. The shipment, originating from Guatemala and destined for Belgium, led to the detention of ten suspects. This significant seizure highlights the Caribbean's resurgence as a major drug trafficking route to Europe, with Dominican authorities confiscating nearly 47 tonnes of drugs this year alone.
