Explosive Devices Targeting Journalists in Ecuador

Ecuador's public prosecutor has launched a terrorism investigation after at least five journalists received envelopes containing explosive devices. The envelopes were addressed to various media outlets and a journalist, with three of them reaching the newsrooms of television channels. The country's Interior Minister condemned the acts and confirmed that an in-depth investigation is underway. One journalist suffered minor injuries when he plugged a memory stick containing an explosive device into his computer. The Ecuadorian government has categorically rejected all types of violent acts perpetrated against journalists or the media.
