Former Air Canada pilot charged over 16 years of unlicensed flights

A former Air Canada captain, Geoffrey Wall of Barrie, Ontario, is charged with flying as an airline captain from 2009 to 2025 without the required airline transport pilot license, alleged to have flown over 900 flights. Air Canada says he did hold a valid commercial pilot license but was promoted to captain without the necessary ATPL, and he has been removed from active duty; Transport Canada has fined him and police say anomalies in documentation prompted the investigation, including a false report about stolen pilot paperwork. Safety officials say mandatory training remained in place and safety was not compromised.
