German court drops sex charges against Madeleine McCann suspect.

A German court has thrown out sex charges against Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect in the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann in 2007. Brueckner was already serving a seven-year sentence for raping an elderly woman in 2005. The dropped charges were unrelated to the McCann case, but Brueckner was charged in 2022 for sex crimes against children that German authorities allege he committed in Portugal between 2000 and 2017. Brueckner continues to deny involvement in the case. Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, were on vacation in Praia da Luz, Portugal, when Madeleine was taken from her bed.
