Over 200 dead and 600 missing in Kenyan cult tragedy.
TL;DR
The death toll linked to a doomsday cult in Kenya has risen to 201, with over 600 people still missing. The cult's leader, Paul Mackenzie, is alleged to have ordered his followers to starve to death in order to meet Jesus. Autopsies conducted on over 100 bodies showed the victims died of starvation, strangulation, suffocation, and injuries sustained from blunt objects. Mackenzie and 26 others have been arrested and will appear in court at the end of the month. Cults are common in Kenya, and police are questioning other religious leaders whose teachings are believed to be misleading and contrary to basic human rights.
