"Teenagers Face Trial for Alleged Role in French Teacher's Beheading"

Six teenagers are on trial in Paris for their alleged involvement in the beheading of a French teacher who showed caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad to his class. The teacher, Samuel Paty, was killed in October 2020 by an 18-year-old of Chechen origin who had become radicalized. Among the defendants, a teenage girl is accused of making false allegations, while five other students are charged with criminal conspiracy. The trial is being held without media presence in accordance with French law regarding minors, and all six teenagers face up to 2 1/2 years in prison. Eight other adults, including the father of the teenage girl, will be sent to trial later.
