Violence erupts at Eritrean festival in Germany, leaving 26 officers injured

At least 26 police officers were injured during an Eritrean cultural event in Giessen, Germany, as groups of Eritreans opposed to the autocratic ruler of Eritrea attempted to force their way into the festival grounds. Despite the use of batons and pepper spray, police were unable to prevent the crowd from entering. Around 100 people were arrested, some of whom had traveled from other European countries. This is not the first time the festival has seen violent incidents, and the organizers have been accused of being close to Eritrea's authoritarian government.
