Eastern European Countries Transfer Fighter Jets to Ukraine Amid Tensions with Russia

Slovakia will donate 13 out-of-commission MiG-29 fighter jets and air defense systems to Ukraine, while Poland will supply four MiG-29s, as both countries support Ukraine's struggle against the Russian invasion. In return, Slovakia hopes to receive €200 million from the European Union's European Peace Facility and $700 million worth of weapons and military equipment from the United States. The US has declined to donate F-16s, arguing that Ukraine's military is familiar with Russian-made MiGs and can absorb them quickly.
