Controversial Body Checks at Miss Universe Indonesia Spark Outrage

The Miss Universe Organization has severed ties with its Indonesian franchisee and canceled an upcoming pageant in Malaysia after contestants filed complaints accusing local organizers of sexual harassment. The contestants alleged that they were asked to strip to their underwear for "body checks" and were photographed topless. The organization stated that the franchise did not meet their brand standards and ethics. The Miss Universe Indonesia pageant winner will still compete in the Miss Universe pageant to be held in El Salvador later this year.
