Wildfire smoke triggers air quality alerts in Maine and New Hampshire.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has issued an Air Quality Alert due to smoke from wildfires in Canada moving into northern Maine and expected to move south and west during the day. The resulting unhealthy air quality could cause reduced lung function and irritation for sensitive groups. Residents are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activity, wear a N95 or KN95 mask, and circulate indoor air with a fan or air conditioner. The DEP Air Quality Forecast page will be updated Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. and again Monday morning.
