WHO calls out China's lack of transparency on COVID-19 origins.

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization's Covid-19 technical lead, criticized China's lack of transparency regarding the origins of the Covid-19 outbreak, stating that the world is in danger without key data. Van Kerkhove believes that China has more essential information that it is not sharing, including information about the wild and farmed animal trade, testing of humans and animals, and the operations of labs in Wuhan that worked with coronaviruses. Without more data from China, it may never be proved whether the pandemic began with a lab leak or with spillover from animals. WHO plans to publish a status report about what it knows about the origins of Covid-19 this year.
