WHO Urges Continued Access to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza Amidst Urgent Health Needs
The World Health Organization (WHO) delivered health supplies to Al-Shifa Hospital in north Gaza and appealed for continued access to address urgent needs. The hospital is currently minimally functional and in need of resuscitation, lacking fuel, oxygen, specialized medical staff, and supplies. It can only provide basic trauma stabilization and dialysis, with the emergency department overwhelmed and patients being transferred elsewhere for surgeries. Tens of thousands of displaced people are using the hospital for shelter, exacerbating the shortage of food and safe water. WHO is committed to strengthening the hospital by providing regular supplies and additional staff to resume basic functionality and provide lifesaving services.
