International Organizations Express Concern over Rape Allegations against Sudan's RSF

Human Rights Watch (HRW) and 30 United Nations experts have accused Sudan's paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), of carrying out rape and sexual violence against women during the four-month conflict in Sudan. HRW documented 78 victims of rape, with the RSF allegedly targeting non-Arab women and girls in the Darfur region and activists documenting human rights abuses. The UN experts expressed alarm at reports of widespread use of rape and sexual violence by the RSF, calling on the group to uphold humanitarian and human rights obligations. The conflict in Darfur has displaced over 4.3 million people and resulted in thousands of deaths.
