"Urgent Call for Investigation into Escalating Atrocities in Sudan's Darfur"

Human Rights Watch has released a report detailing the killings and abuses against non-Arab ethnic groups in Sudan's Darfur region since fighting broke out in April. The rights group is calling for an investigation by the International Criminal Court, as many of the abuses amount to war crimes. The violence, including mass killings and ethnic cleansing, resembles the atrocities of the Darfur war 20 years ago. The report highlights a case in which the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied militias executed at least 28 ethnic Massalit people in the town of Misterei. The conflict has led to a surge in fighting and ethnic violence, with hundreds of thousands of people displaced. Human Rights Watch is urging international bodies to call for investigations and humanitarian access.
