UK considers housing asylum seekers in military bases and disused ferries.

The UK government is reportedly planning to move migrants who have crossed the English Channel onto military bases and disused ferries, as well as potentially using holiday camps and college dorms. Royal Air Force Base Scampton in Lincolnshire could house up to 1,500 migrants, but this is only a fraction of the roughly 45,000 people who crossed the Channel in 2022. The majority of migrants come from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria, but many are "economic migrants" from Albania and other Eastern European countries. The government plans to table an illegal immigration bill in parliament next week, which includes creating a new enforcement group of 700 people and designating Albania as a "safe country."
