US Successfully Eliminates Deadly Chemical Weapons Stockpile, Ending a Century-Long Chapter

The United States has successfully destroyed its last declared chemical weapons stockpile, marking the end of a decades-long campaign to eliminate these deadly weapons. The rockets filled with GB nerve agent, also known as sarin, were destroyed at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky. This milestone not only closes a chapter of warfare dating back to World War I but also sends a message to countries that have not joined the international Chemical Weapons Convention. The U.S. faced a deadline to eliminate its remaining chemical weapons under the convention, which was joined by 193 countries.
