"U.S. Increases Aid to Sudanese Fleeing Civil War with $160M Boost"

The United States will provide an additional $163 million in aid to support the humanitarian crisis caused by Sudan's civil war, according to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield. The aid will be directed towards the 1 million people who have fled Sudan, including nearly 400,000 who have sought refuge in neighboring Chad. Thomas-Greenfield also announced new sanctions against a leader of one of the warring parties. The U.N. has called for over $1 billion in additional aid to address the crisis, which has seen widespread violence, sexual violence, and reports of ethnic cleansing.
