Ukraine's US Patriot system successfully intercepts Russian hypersonic missile.

Ukraine claims to have shot down a Russian Kinzhal hypersonic missile with a US Patriot air defense system during an attack on Kyiv. The Kinzhal is one of six "next generation" weapons unveiled by President Vladimir Putin in 2018. The US Patriot system is one of an array of sophisticated air defense units supplied by the West to help Ukraine repel a months-long Russian campaign of air strikes that has targeted critical infrastructure, power facilities, and other sites.
