UN demands Taliban to reverse crackdown on women's rights in Afghanistan

The UN Security Council has unanimously passed a resolution calling on the Taliban to reverse their increasingly harsh restrictions on women and girls, including severely restricting education and banning women from most jobs, public spaces, and gyms. The resolution condemns the Taliban's ban on women working for the UN and urges all other UN member nations to use their influence to promote "an urgent reversal" of the Taliban's policies and practices toward women and girls. The Taliban have ignored numerous appeals from the UN and many countries to restore the rights of girls and women.
