"US and Western Governments Intensify Sanctions on Myanmar's Military and Oil Industry"

The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a directive prohibiting certain financial services by US persons to or for the benefit of Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), aiming to degrade the regime's ability to purchase weapons for atrocities against the people of Burma. OFAC has also designated three entities and five individuals connected to Burma's military regime, in coordination with Canada and the United Kingdom, to disrupt the regime's military supply chain and hold it accountable for violence. The sanctions target companies, government officials, and military cronies involved in the brutal violence in Burma.
