The United States and the Philippines have launched two weeks of military drills with international partners, including Australia, Canada, France, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia, amid escalating tensions with China over territorial disputes in the South China Sea. The exercises, called Maritime Training Activity Sama Sama 2023, will focus on anti-submarine, surface, and air warfare, as well as land phases.
